Skyscraper (2018) Dolby Atmos Review: Helicopters, Height and Heavy Hits
Skyscraper’s Dolby Atmos soundtrack really suits a movie set this high above the ground. The crane jump is a standout, with rushing wind making the open space around the building feel more dangerous. The helicopter scenes give the overhead speakers something to do, with the blades adding to the feeling that the action is happening above and around you. These are the moments worth replaying when you want to show someone what Atmos adds.
There’s plenty of weight behind the explosions and gunfire, while breaking glass keeps the surrounding speakers busy. Even with all that going on, the voices stay clear enough to follow without struggling. The music is the weaker part; it supports the action but doesn’t stand out as much as the effects. Still, for a home theater movie night, this is an easy recommendation. The crane and helicopter sequences alone make it a good choice to show off your sound system.
