Rocketman

Rocketman is a fun movie to turn up and enjoy on a home theater system. The Dolby Atmos soundtrack gives the songs a big, full sound, with clear singing and plenty happening around the room. Taron Egerton’s vocals stay easy to follow even when the band gets loud.

The Troubadour performance is a highlight. The crowd reactions come from around and behind you, giving the scene that feeling of being in the audience. As the performance moves into the floating sequence, the sound opens up with it. It’s a good moment to hear what the surround and height speakers add.

The bass gives the drums and bigger musical numbers a solid kick. It supports the songs without taking over. The quieter moments let the piano and vocals come through more clearly, and that change in volume makes the big performances more exciting.

What works well here is how the sound follows the movie’s imagination. It can feel like a small live performance one moment and a much larger musical number the next. For anyone who enjoys Elton John’s music, Rocketman is an entertaining Dolby Atmos home theater demo, especially for vocals and surround sound.
