Pitch Perfect

The vocals are the highlight for me in Pitch Perfect. The lead singing stays clear, and you can hear the different vocal parts without them blending into one sound. That makes the group performances enjoyable to listen to.

The riff-off and final competition are the scenes that stand out. The DTS:X mix gives the performances a wider sound, with the surround speakers adding space around the music. The final performance is the one I would replay.

The bass gives the beatboxing and lower vocals some weight without overpowering the singers. Dialogue is also clear, so the conversations and jokes are easy to follow between songs.

There isn’t much obvious activity from the height speakers. Most of the appeal comes from the vocal detail and how well the voices work together across the speakers.

For home theater audio, this is a good music-focused mix. The clear singing and lively performances are what make it worth hearing on a surround sound system.
