The sound in Dune
Part Two was amazing. The music and sound effects made every scene feel more intense and immersive. The sandworm scenes and battle sequences were especially impressive. Overall, it was a great audio experience and one of the best aspects of the movie.
The arena drums will find your sternum
The arena fight starts in near-silence and then a drum lands like a fist on the floor. It happens again. And again. The room goes monochrome with it — warmth drained out, just breath and skin and percussion wrapping the bubble. Then the desert opens up and the mix never lets you sit still. Sand pours from the height channels. An ornithopter cuts diagonally across the ceiling. The atomic charge detonates against the shield wall and your couch moves before your ears catch up. Worm-riding is a wind tunnel pinned overhead, grit and pressure in the heights while the sub holds a low note that won't quit. The Sardaukar invasion is a full 360 assault, ornithopters and screams panned discretely around you. Voice modulation pushes the center hard in the loudest invocations — intentional, occasionally fatiguing. Reference. No asterisks.
