Speaker destroyer!
The Brutal Opening Scene: Within the first 30 seconds—as the eye opens and the plane flies over the solar farms, hits the system with a massive wall of low-frequency effects (LFE) dropping well below 20Hz. Reviews on AVS Forum frequently warn that entry-level or poorly calibrated subwoofers will physically bottom out.. If you are using this film to benchmark your home theater, I strongly advise starting at -15dB to -20dB below reference volume to gauge how well your subwoofers handle the opening frequencies before turning it up. Besides that, the atmos is incredible lots and lots of sounds all around the film.
Deep Bass & Atmosphere
Slow-paced but visually stunning, with a dark futuristic world that pulls you in. The atmosphere and cinematography are incredible. The sound is even better on a good home-theater setup. The deep bass, powerful score, rain, city ambience, and low-frequency effects create a huge sense of space.
Powerful Atmos sound and amazing atmosphere
The bass was very powerful and the surround sound was really immersive. The Atmos effects during the flying scenes, rain and action scenes were very good. The background score also sounded amazing and added a lot to the atmosphere.
The room becomes the world
The room becomes the world. The protein farm opens and you're suddenly inside the wind — flat horizon, machinery groaning somewhere behind your left shoulder, the score pressing down from above like weather. That's the whole disc. The bass isn't hits, it's pressure: the Wallace chamber BRAAMs load your couch and don't let go. Rooftop rain falls through the height layer, not just from it. The Vegas sequence is the one you'll demo — that radioactive orange haze has a sound, and it's everywhere and nowhere. The seawall fight finally lets the LFE off the leash and your subs will thank you. Gosling whispers, so a thin center will struggle under the score; budget accordingly. Different reference than Maverick or Fury Road. Those are events. This one is a place.
